Friday Five: Binge Worthy Shows on Netflix

Happy 4th of July weekend!!

It’s an extended weekend for a lot of us, which means we’ll be spending most of our days watching our kids play sports, hitting the pool, attending or hosting BBQs and running countless errands. At the end of the day, all we’ll want to do is sit on the couch and relax with a good show and a glass of wine (or two)! For this week’s edition of Friday Five I’m  providing recommendations on binge worthy shows you can find on Netflix. So, after the kiddos go to bed, grab your wine & snacks and hit the couch!
1. Parenthood
I can honestly say after watching this show that it is my favorite show EVER! I love TV and have watched quite a few shows, so that is a huge statement coming from me. I loved every single episode and flew through all 6 seasons. The storyline focuses on four grown siblings and the struggles they face in parenthood, relationships and in their careers. There are a couple of story lines that seem to be exaggerated a bit, but overall this show was excellent!

2. Friday Night Lights

Two words: Coach Taylor! I’m not sure why I never watched this show when it was actually on TV but I LOVED it! I was looking for shows to watch this winter when my husband was working long hours and a good friend recommended Friday Night Lights. The show is centered around high school football in Texas, but incorporates the daily struggles of balancing work, family and pressures from the community. You guys, it is so good!

3. Bloodline
Two words: John Rayburn! For those of you that don’t know both Coach Taylor (Friday Night Lights) and John Rayburn are played by the same actor, Kyle Chandler. 🙂 This show is about a family of adult siblings (the Rayburns) dealing with secrets from their past. The storyline starts out a bit slow, and my husband and I almost gave up on it, but it picks up after about the 4th episode. It hooks you and keeps you on your toes wondering what is going to happen next! We just finished season 1 and we’re hooked! This is currently our go-to show when we want to relax at the end of a busy day. Season 3, the final season, was recently released on Netflix.

4. Orange is the New Black
There are 5 seasons available to watch of this Netflix Original series and I’m currently in the middle of season 5. It’s funny, dramatic, outrageous and addicting! It is set in a women’s prison in Danbury, Connecticut and gives insight along the way into how the women ended up serving time. Warning: This is not a show you want to watch with your children around!

5. Stranger Things
This is another show that my husband and I watched together and both loved it. Season 1 is currently available on Netflix and season 2 will be released on Halloween! I don’t even want to give insight into what this series is about so I don’t give anything away, but it’s addicting and definitely worth watching!

Honorable Mentions:
Grey’s Anatomy
Mad Men
Breaking Bad (I haven’t finished this series yet but everyone raves about it!)
The Walking Dead
