Back to School: Lunch Ideas Part 2

Let’s hear it for another round of school lunch ideas!! If you’re like me, I fall into routines when packing school lunches. So, now that the kiddos have been back in school for a week or so, I thought it would be the perfect time to put together another round of school lunch ideas.

Once again I used the plastic bento containers that I found at Dollar General. These come in packs of two for $1. What a deal! (See my previous school lunch post for additional deals I found at Dollar General!)
I used a combination of the following for lunches this week:
  • Sliced turkey
  • Whole wheat bread
  • Mini Hawaiian rolls
  • Hard boiled eggs
  • Green peppers
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Bananas
  • Apples
  • Cucumbers
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Tortillas
  • Peanut butter
  • Jelly
  • Pasta salad (noodles, cheddar cheese cubes, cherry tomatoes, green pepper, pepperoni & light Italian dressing)
  • Yogurt cups
  • Sugar free applesauce cups
  • Mandarin orange cups

Instead of a standard PB&J sandwich, this time I used a little sandwich cutter to make a PB&J in the shape of a cupcake. I bought a set of sandwich cutters online a couple of years ago, and let my boys pick out what shape they want on sandwich day to make sandwiches more fun. I also made peanut butter & banana sushi, and instead of a plain old turkey & cheese sandwich, I used mini Hawaiian rolls and cucumbers instead of bread.

I also suggest grabbing these Fit & Fresh Cool Coolers to keep everything cold! I picked up a 2-pack at Target for $3.99. I love that they are super flat so they don’t take up too much room in their lunch boxes.

Try to make meal prepping fun! I like to spend a little time on Sunday or Monday evenings to put together lunches for the week. I end up spending less time throughout the week putting meals together that way. What are your favorite school lunches? I’d love to hear some of your ideas!
