This week for my Friday Five I’m going to share my favorite fitness apps. I feel like I’ve done it all when it comes to workouts. I’ve joined gyms, barre and pilates studios, boot camps, yoga classes and at-home workouts, and they all have their benefits. I love switching things up when I get bored and need motivation, and sometimes I find using a fitness app and getting a quick workout in at home is the best solution.
Here are a few of my favorites:
1. Map My Fitness
I love to run when the weather is nice and this app has a GPS feature so I can track my mileage. It has a great audio feature so I get feedback and stats at every mile without having to look at my watch or phone. I also love that I can use the app to discover new workout routes when I get tired of running my typical routes.
2. Aaptiv
This app is full of trainer-led audio workout classes. Aaptiv has workouts for running, indoor cycling, elliptical machines, HIIT, strength and abs. It also coordinates all of the workouts to music….and it’s good music! They offer a free 7 day trial then it’s $9.99 a month after that.
3. Nike+ Training Club
This app is filled with over 100 workouts led by a personal trainer. My husband is a big fan of this app and often does these workouts at the gym, but you can do them at home too! We even did a few of these workouts on our vacation in Jamaica last month (well, I joined him for one workout). 🙂 I love that they give you visuals and a timer so you don’t have to leave the app. You can choose from a variety of workouts with different goals and lengths. They even have workouts as short as 15 minutes!
4. Beachbody On Demand
I’ve been addicted to the Beachbody workouts lately! I’ve done the 21 Day Fix Extreme, a few Insanity workouts and recently did the Shaun Week: Insane Focus 7 day workout. I love these workouts because they are short, you can do them at home with limited equipment, and they are GOOD workouts. When I workout I like to feel like I worked out, and these workouts do just that…..I have that “good sore” feeling the next day! 🙂 Beachbody On Demand offers a free 30 day trial too!
5. My Fitness Pal
If you’re looking for an app to track calories this is a great way to do that. It is easy to look up foods and has a barcode scanner for prepackaged foods. It also features a recipe calculator so you can input custom creations. It allows you to track your workouts, set diet goals and monitor your progress as you go.
Like I said in the beginning, I’ve tried a variety of workouts and workout apps. If you have any questions or need advice on what to try or where to start, feel free to send me a message via Facebook!
